Tee Tree Oil in Liquid Soap


Tee Tree Oil is steam distilled from leaves of Melaleuca Alternifolia tree, native to the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia, and has anesthetic, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and anti-fungal properties. Tea Tree Oil can be incorporated into a liquid hand soap to give it a natural anti-bacterial and anti-septic property. Below is one sample formulation.

VANZAN NF-C1, Xanthan Gum


Disodium EDTA



Amphosol® CA2, Cocamidopropyl Betaine


Plantaren® 2000 N3, Decyl Glucoside


Water-Soluble Tea Tree Oil4, Water (and) Melaleuca Oil (and) Ethoxylated Castor Oil (and) Polysorbate 20









Step 1. Slowly sift the VANZAN NF-C into an established vortex and mix until completely dissolved. Add the disodium EDTA and mix until it dissolves.

Step 2. Add Part B ingredients separately, mixing after each until homogeneous.

Step 3. Add preservative and mix thoroughly. Add triethanolamine to adjust pH to 6.5 ± 0.5.

VANZAN® NF-C Xanthan Gum, a clear solution grade, provides this liquid hand soap with a soft gel consistency. This formula contains tea tree oil in an easy-to-use, water-soluble form. Excellent foaming characteristics and product mildness are provided by the decyl glucoside surfactant.
